Cruise in the Austral islands, the secret archipelago.

Discovered by Europeans in the 18th Century, the Austral islands are located 373 miles (600 km) south of Tahiti’s capital city. The archipelago is made of seven remote islands, five of which are inhabited – Rimatara, Rurutu, Tubuai, Raivavae and Rapa. A total of 6,800 people live in the Austral islands, an off the beaten track archipelago of untouched and mysterious land where white sand clashes with the intense blue of the lagoons.

 

Breath-taking landscapes, from sheer mountains to valleys and high plains, these islands are famous for their farming activities. Several archaeological remains witness to a well organized, pre-European community of rich cultural and religious practices. Beautiful Fakarava ... this island really grows on you. All of the 2025 cruises will visit this alluring island.



The Austral Islands ...

I've been working on this for 3 years and it is close to becoming a reality. This would be a 12 night adventure aboard the Aranui 5. Let me know if your interested ... don't want to Finalize the contract if there is little interest. Currently 10 of you have expressed interest. As I just mentioned this cruise I'll give it until the first of the year before making a final decision. I'm hoping for a minimum of 16 people.

This itinerary is something new ... no one in my prior groups have been to most of these islands ... Part of French Polynesia but off the beaten trek. This is more of an adventure/exploration cruise experience. You will definably rub shoulders with the locals and the crew which is 97% Polynesian. This would be in 2026.
